How come my copy of NHL 07 on PS2 wont work?
As it’s loading (you know how it plays a little part of a song, then starts the game like two seconds after it finishes…), it goes fine, until, well, it keeps loading. Like, for way too long. I check the PS2 and it’s making that kind of soft buzzing noise, the irregular one, where it can’t read the disc. The little loading icon is still moving, but not normally, not like how they usually go…like, little load, pause, longer load, little load, pause…you know how loading icons are choppy? Well this one just moves along at the same constant speed, like it’s still loading, but obviously something’s wrong.
I tried it five or six more times over the rest of yesterday and today, but nothin’. This also happens in regular Quick Play. And in the shootout mini-game it does it, too. I noticed it only wierds out when I go to play the actual action part of the game, as the menus still work as perfectly as ever. So today, I go to the shootout mini-game (this was the first time I tried it since it tweaked out). It goes through the (now) normal loading scenario (the messed up one), and after about five minutes, it actually starts. But the thing’s still not right. First of all, the music will play for five seconds, then cut out, just stop dead. Second, to get the puck, I have to skate to it perfectly, and get my stick right on it. Not like how your skater usually gets it on his stick when you’re just close to it.
So I skate in, deke the goalie, score, and the buzzer goes off, the crowd cheers, like normal, but more problems. It doesn’t reset me at half ice like it should. The goalie just stands there, and I have to put (as in shoot) the puck back into the net a second time, then after three or four seconds, it resets me, but the music is still gone. I go through the same thing two or three more times, shoot in score, twice, get reset, before it just freezes. Straight up freezes. It doesn’t slow down, get choppy, it just stops dead.
So I ask, what’s the problem? I’ll say right now, by the way, that there’s not a single scratch on the thing, not ONE. I knew it was a solid game, a good game, and I’ve been careful enough to put it back in the case after time I took it out. I can also say right now, just to make sure things are clear, that I’ve never gotten a disc scratched to the point where it skips, or freezes. I do tend to leave them out, but I’m careful. I grab them by the edges, I don’t leave them in the sun, and I make sure not to drop ‘em or anything. Not CD’s, games, or anything. I’m cautious about messing them up. Also, my PS2 plays everything else fine. I have games that have a lot of little scratches, like hard-to-see scratches, but they still are in worse condition than NHL, and they work flawlessly. So once again, I ask…what’s the problem?

It sounds like your system,(I had the same problem) maybe your lens, or something damaged that can not be seem with the ***** eye, or maybe the disk has a scratch on it and you just can’t see it
